The confirmation program is a blend of fellowship with a "back to basics" approach to Christian education. Students have fun, form friendships and learn at the same time. Learning, service and fellowship are the three branches for the faith journey. This includes a rotation of lesson nights, service and mission nights, and fellowship nights. Learning nights begin with an introductory Pastor-led instruction with the large group followed by a small group setting. Our new curriculum, Here We Stand offers students the opportunity to learn God’s word in both large and small group settings and make life applications.
After thoughtful discussions and prayers, we are transitioning to a new Confirmation Program! Our new program is a 3-year experience for students in grades 6-8. It is designed to enhance their faith formation through the study of the Bible and Luther's Small Catechism in both large and small group settings on Wednesday nights.
6th graders will take pre-confirmation lessons while confirmation education starts in 7th grade until students are confirmed in April of their 8th grade year. They will then transition to high school youth group in the Fall of 2019. Parents are invited once a month for Parent Night beginning 2019-2020 confirmation year.
2018-2019 is the transition year for the new program. The current 8th graders will attend a weekend Catechism Retreat at Calvary on January 26-27. Pre-confirmation (6-7) graders and confirmation students will continue to meet at their regular times on Wednesdays. 8th and 9th graders will be confirmed on April 28, 2019. 8th grade confirmation is at 8:15am and 9th grade confirmation is at 10:15am during worship services. The incoming 8th graders will attend Luther's Small Catechism retreat in Fall 2019! The goal is for 8th graders to be confirmed in the April of each year.
